a little bit of this and that

It is not easy to find most of the things I need for cooking here in Uganda.
Grains like farro, red quinoa, and barley are some of the things I bring when I travel and use them on special occasions.

Last week we had guests from overseas and two dinner parties in the garden. We barbecued, made some salads and mouth watering desserts.

{grilled zucchini}

 {israeli couscous, grilled eggplant & zucchini, sun dried tomatoes, pine nuts, and feta cheese salad}

 {pink roses for a country style decor in the garden}

Sunsets from our garden and amazing, so when we entertain it is always in our beautiful garden.

handprinted

{behind the scenes}
There's no better feeling like seeing your designs come to life.
Screen printing is one of those forms of art that gives you that satisfaction almost immediately. You pass your squeegee and voilĂ , there you have it!!!

From vector design to my screen.

 Fluorescent ink to be printed on organic cotton.

 It is a struggle to find the right inks, with a soft hand in Uganda. Most materials have to be imported.

 Lifting the screen and seeing the result. The scary, but exciting part of the process.

More colors and some branding.

torta chilena

This is definitely a favorite of mine! Layers of flaky sweet pastry filled with dulce de leche.

Italian meringue is the best for this decadent dessert.
