where I get creative {an interview with Marivic Ulep}

Today I would like to introduce you to Marivic. Her blog define1lady is one of my daily reads and a great source of inspiration!

Tell us a bit about your background.
I am a full-time graphic artist who enjoys drawing, blogging and designing things. I find blogging a perfect place to share all my favorite things I love, incorporate my creative work, Etsy shop and show little pieces of my life.

Describe your Creative Space
Modern vintage. It's elegant and simple with a touch of coziness.

Describe your typical Creative workday
To start the day, I like to make a healthy morning breakfast or smoothie, get my son ready for the in-law's house and do a little house cleaning. Afterward, I check emails, work on some freelance projects or design an invite for my Etsy shop before going to my day job. At work, it's more creative work of laying out ads, designing a poster or retouching an image, browsing through the web for design inspirations and making my ritual cup of tea.

Two things you can't live without
Two things I can't live without would be my iPhone and moleskine sketchbook. My iPhone keeps me organized. I create my to-do-list for the day, play my music for entertainment and check emails from my phone constantly. If an idea comes up, I would sketch it out on my moleskine sketchbook. I'm such a forgetful person so I like to have these things close to me.

How do you keep focused while working?
Keeping a calm, having a positive mind and energy helps me stay focus and I can achieve more in life.  I love to find things that mimic meditation. When I'm in stress, I like to breathe deeply a few times, pray, take a short break, sip a warm cup of tea and doodle on my sketchbook.

What is your primary source of inspiration?
Everyday life and the people around me is my primary source of inspiration. I'm guided by knowledge, learning something new everyday and I've been able to do what I love and create things that inspire me.

What part of your work do you enjoy the most?
I became an early riser after becoming a mother and enjoy the morning light the most. I take advantage of all the extra alone time when my husband brings my son to the in-laws before going to work.

What are you working on now?
I'm working on a logo for my sister-in-law. She will be starting her photography business soon so I'm excited about designing a logo for her.
