georgetwon cupcakes

I am a fan of cupcakes, but not a fan of long lines. It seems that as the popularity of the cupcake shop, featured on the TLC reality show, "DC Cupcakes," has grown, so has the line that winds around the corner and down 33rd Street. However, if you order ahead, you can walk right ahead of the line, say your name, and be back in your car in 5 min or less. I will definitely do that next time.

We went there on Tuesday during the cherry blossom festival.  We got the Red Velvet {Georgetown Cupcake's signature cupcake — classic red velvet cupcake with a vanilla cream cheese frosting topped with a red fondant heart}, the Chocolate 2 {Valrhona chocolate cupcake with a whipped Callebaut chocolate frosting topped with a fondant flower} and the Vanilla Birthday {Classic Madagascar bourbon vanilla cupcake topped with a traditional sweet vanilla buttercream frosting and rainbow sprinkles}... I let the kids choose the flavors.

The presentation of the cupcakes was beautiful, so that's a bonus. These cupcakes look as if each was designed individually by hand.
