weekend already

weekends are for one thing.... or should be... **putting your feet up and spend well deserved time away from the computer** Unfortunately, not this weekend! I'll be counting, checking, finishing, invoicing spring-summer merchandise to be shipped on Monday {can you believe it's March already?}
While all the new pieces that the knitters brought in today were drying, I baked crumb cake for some friends that came over to visit and see the new accessories I'm working on. Can't wait to finish this new collection.
What are you up to this weekend? Thanks for stopping this week!

Have a good one!

more behind the scenes

When I started Fournier more than eight years ago, I used to wash everything at home. Nowadays, the process is performed at my workshop.
For drying, we have folding mesh racks that fit a large amount of garments at the same time, since hand knit items must be dried laying flat to avoid stretching.

I've spent a good part of my weekend packing spring merchandise to be shipped to stores and private label customers this week. We had some rain over the weekend which delayed the process a bit. FedEx guy had to wait at our door while we finished closing the last boxes.

This is part of the merchandise that will reach some of our customers in New York next week.

Hats & booties ready for ironing and labeling.

Hats, sweaters, pants and booties as they finished drying &
ready for the finishing touches.

Custom made booties with ivory satin ribbon.

the party

The girls worked really hard yesterday at the party to make a Valentine's Day banner I had prepared for them. They drew, used the stickers and cut hearts to decorate the banner letters. Each girl had her own set of markers, letters, paper hearts and scissors.

They all wore the heart brooches I made for them.

finished banner!!!

Sebastian also helped the girls decorating some of the letters and hearts.
He could not leave a car out of the picture...

Vanilla and chocolate cupcakes ready for icing.
We had Nutella, Marshmallow Creme and Vanilla Buttercream.

There wasn't enough time to decorate all the heart sugar cookies... only a few were decorated with royal icing before they took them home.

These are some of the hearts and stickers I have for tomorrow's Valentine's Day party at home. We'll make treat bags and more hearts for the garlands this afternoon when Daniela comes back from school.

weekend drizzle

It's been a weekend without much sun as it has rained and drizzled intermittently for four days straight. Nevertheless I enjoyed sleeping, reading, knitting and taking some photos.

inspiration {color}

The vivid and shimmering colors of peacock feathers are one of my choices for my next summer collection. Shades of blue, turquoise, green + black & white. I'm working on an eye feather pattern to block print linen fabric that I will use it to make bags and accessories.

Peacocks are peacefully wandering around the hotel rooms where we're staying and I've had the chance to get close and take photos without scaring them. My daughter came up with the theory that they open their feathers when they get scared which was really funny. The peacocks spread their tails during mating season to attract the attention of the females (peahens).

happy v-day

Happy v-day everyone! I made crochet hearts in pink pima cotton for my daughter's Valentine's Day Party next week. She invited her best friends and we'll make cards, banners, bake cupcakes and decorate them... a fun day with the girls. We could not have the party this weekend because we are going to Santa Cruz for the carnival holiday.
