Shopping Days

For last year's holiday season I was invited by the South African Women's Association to be a part of the vendors at their Crazy Shopping Day in Nairobi. It was a three day event featuring mostly artisans from the South African community living in Nairobi.
I had a nice tent for my Fournier line with everything from toys and booties to my outfits for this summer season.

Bibs, rompers, blankets, baby sets and toys on one of my tables.

Rattle toys, finger puppets, crochet flower brooches.

SAWA Kenya is a community that offers support to South African residents and focuses on charity work in Kenya.

2009 Academy Awards Gifting Suites

I am very honored to be one of the selected group of participants at the 2009 Academy Awards Gifting Suites last month. The event took place at the SLS Hotel in Los Angeles, California on February 20-22, 2009.
Along with Elie's papel we had a nice table at the event featuring my crocheted baby alpaca scarves, toys, and flower brooches, as well as her stationary, jewelry from Ana Gutierrez, and gift certificates from Frederic Estates and Shirin Kashani.
We created environmentally friendly bags with the goods. Bags were distributed among guests that attended the event for two days before the Oscar's night.
I could not attend the event, but my sister did a great job. Thanks sis!!!!

My hand crocheted owls and baby alpaca scarves decorated the table at the event. The owls are from my Spring-Summer 2009 toy collection, in stores now. They are made with pima cotton in pastel colors and shell button for the eyes.

Fashioned for a Cause

Along with my sister Elizabeth from Elie's papelwe donated 30 similar bags to the ones we prepared for the Academy Awards Gifting suites last month. They included her beautifully made stationary and my knitted accessories. We attended by invitation of La Chica Chic, a collection of Brazilian shoes, handbags, jewelry and accessories made with organic leathers, suede, and recycled materials designed by Cristiane Valdez.

Together with Shoes for the Soul, a non-profit organization, the mission is to place new shoes on the feet of children whose family are at or below poverty line. There are approximately 1.9 million homeless children in the United States. We believe that together we can accomplish so much more.

Flower Power

I love flowers. Blooming in my garden in Nairobi and in my knitting. I use them in all my collections as appliques on clothing or accessories.
